Q: When did you start breeding dogs?
A: I started 3 years ago with Shih tzu and Golden retriever. I don’t know why but they caught my heart and attention and I’ve always wanted to have them. Maybe because they’re so cute and sweet.
Q: Which breed/s you started breeding and why?
A: My family started to love dogs when my father bought our very first dog named Jacky, a chow chow. He bought that for only 15,000 which was very cheap. We loved Jacky as if she was our own sibling and as if a real daughter to my parents. After a year, she got her first menstruation that is why we decided to find stud dog so that she will have her playmates. After two months of being pregnant, she finally gave birth to 6 cute puppies. 4 of those were sold and the remaining two were left to us. We decided to buy other breeds such as chihuahua, shih tzu, french bulldog, american bully, english bulldog, japanese spitz, husky, german shepherd, belgian malinios, rottweiler, saint bernard, golden retriever, etc. until we had more than 70 dogs.
In 2016, I decided to have my own kennel and buy dogs using my own money from my savings. I am a working student up until now. Because of my perseverance and dedication, I already have 15 dogs. You can visit my facebook account to see and check them. After 3 years, I was able to have a fully air-conditioned kennel, with tiles and I am willing to do anything just to spoil them because they deserve that.
Q: What are your struggles in breeding dogs and how did you overcome it?
A: Being a dog breeder is not easy as most of the people think. It is a big responsibility as if you adopted a baby. Why? Simply because they also need to have a shelter, they also need to eat nutritious food, even vitamins. They also need hygiene and most of all, your time and effort. You need to make sure that they’re okay especially their coats and skin. So if you want to be a dog breeder make sure that you’re ready to give everything they need. One of my difficult experience as a dog breeder and at the same time as a working student is when I had a Shih Tzu that undergone cesarean. I barely sleep because I always have to check on her. I just kept in mind that I need to make sure that she’s okay because I treat her like my own child. You just need to sacrifice and I also gave up my social life just to be a good and responsible fur-parent.
Q: What is your advice to new breeders to achieve where you are right now?
A: There are three things you need to know if you also want to be a breeder. First is Love. I believe that if you love what you are doing and you’re passionate about it, you will give everything and you will enjoy it. Also, i believe that love is the most important thing in a dog’s life. Do not be a breeder just for money. Second is Dedication. Just focus on your goals. Focus on what you have and improve it. Lastly, have Faith. You will not be able to achieve the things you are dreaming of without God. He is the only one who will not leave and forsake you. Lift up your decisions or plans to him and believe. Always remember, God is good all the time.
