Featured Breeder: Cesspot Miciano of Shekina Baewolves Kennel

Pinoy Pets PH appreciates breeders reaching out to share their success stories and tips on how to properly handle a Kennel.

Today, we have Cesspot Miciano of Shekinah Baewolves from Infanta Quezon! Hope this will inspire those breeders who need guidance and support on how to be an expert breeder!

We asked Miss Cesspot Miciano few questions and the interview went great! See her answers below.

Q: Which breed/s you started breeding and why?
A: We started our kennel (SHEKINA BAEWOLVES KENNEL) last 2017 when we had our first litter.

Q: Which breed/s you started breeding and why?
A: Siberian Husky. It was our first love when it comes to breeds! Way back 2015, we had our first fur-baby named “KASSIE”. By that time, we had no intention to breed her. We just want to have a new member of the family. Then out of nowhere I saw a picture of a puppy posted in a group, I can say that “IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!” Sounds weird and corny but it was the exact feeling I felt that time. I didn’t waste time, in short, we ended up getting another puppy and named him “JAIDEE”. As they grow old, seeing them and realizing that their lives are not that long as we human’s have.

For the love I have for them, we decided to breed them just to have puppies that we can keep, when time comes that their parents needs to leave us, we still have their babies. Even without them, our hearts are filled by thoughts that we still have our first alpha male and alpha female. And okay na kami dun.

Q: What are your struggles in breeding dogs and how did you overcome it?
A: As a newbie in this field, struggle sa amin noong una kung papano namin maaalagaan ng maayos yung dam para walang maging problema sa pagbubuntis nya hanggang sa manganak sya. We asked different people, vets, friends, reputable breeders, and yong mga taong alam namin na may experience na when it comes to breeding. We do kennel visits, attending seminars, etc. We do a lot of research, dahil takot kami na sumablay kasi may buhay na nakasalalay. Hindi lang kung papano alagaan sila habang nagbubuntis, kundi kung papano ang possible best way na pwede namin magawa pa to make their life more comfortable and our life more easier taking care of them.

From what food to eat, kennel set up na magiging ok sila and most importantly is their health.

Talking with other breeders and furparents like me, they are all saying na part yon ng pag-aalaga at pag b-breed. Minsan di maiiwasan kahit sobrang maingat tayo, masasalisihan tayo.

One thing i’ve realized ng mangyari yon. So yon, kapag may problema at pagod na? Walang sukuan, walang ayawan, andyan mga kaibigan at kapwa breeder mo to help also your vets.

Q: What is your advice to new breeders to achieve where you are right now?
A: In breeding dogs, there’s a lot of things you need to learn, to know and to consider. Siguro mapapayo ko lang is, before owning one, do a research, ask different people (malaking tulong sila promise) ‘wag mahihiyang magtanong regarding sa breed, how to take care of them, etc.

Love your dogs. Don’t make them a “Milking Cow”. Give them what they need and what they deserve. Spend time with them. At the end of the day, they are still a member of the family. Protect them. And I, thank you. Hihihi
